Daily Seed privacy
Last updated 30 September 2026
Our approach to privacy
Daily Seed: Journal & Diary works without an account. We do not operate a server that receives your journal through the app. The app has no advertising, third-party analytics, or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your personal information.
Your journal is stored on your device. Optional Apple speech recognition, purchases, device backups, and files you choose to export are described below so you can understand when information may leave the app.
Information stored on your device
Journal pages, sealed letters, moods, feelings, activity words, favourites, separate notes, photos, and voice recordings are stored locally in the app's data container. Preferences, custom templates, and the optional name you enter are also stored on your device.
Monthly trees, insights, and recaps are calculated on your device from your saved records. Your journal is not sent to us for these features.
Photos and microphone
When you choose a photo using Apple's system photo picker, the selected image is copied into the app. Daily Seed does not request broad access to browse your entire photo library.
Microphone access is optional and is requested for recording voice notes or dictation. Voice recordings are stored locally unless you choose to export or share them, or enable Apple's server recognition for transcription. You can change permissions in iOS Settings. The app does not request access to your contacts, location, or camera.
Speech recognition and Apple
Speech-to-text uses Apple's speech services. Send what I say to Apple is off by default. With that setting off, recognition runs on your device where your device, iOS version, language, and installed models support it; on-device recognition may not be available for every language.
If you turn that setting on, the app selects Apple's server speech recognition and sends audio to Apple for transcription, including when transcribing a saved recording. Apple's processing is governed by Apple's applicable privacy practices and service terms. We do not receive that audio or transcript through a developer-operated server.
On supported iOS versions, the app can request a missing speech model from Apple. Downloading a model uses the network but does not itself upload your journal or recording. Choosing another language may require another download.
App lock and sealed letters
If you enable app lock, iOS performs device-owner authentication using supported biometrics or your device passcode. Daily Seed receives the authentication result, not your biometric data or passcode.
Sealed letters are hidden from the ordinary book and search until opened on or after their chosen date. Sealing is not cryptographic encryption, and the text is included in journal exports. App lock does not encrypt exported copies or give them a separate password.
Notifications
If you enable Quiet reminder, the app schedules a local daily notification for your chosen time. It does not use a remote push-notification server for journal reminders. Notification permission is optional and can be changed in iOS Settings.
Exports, imports, sharing, and device backups
Export creates readable text, JSON, and selected media files that you decide where to save or share. Exported copies include sealed letters and are not encrypted. They are journal-page copies, not complete backups of separate notes, preferences, your name, or custom templates. Import restores supported journal-page data and has limitations described on our support page.
A bound-year PDF is generated locally. If you share an export or PDF, or save it to iCloud Drive or another service, that destination's privacy practices apply. We do not receive those files unless you independently choose to send them to us.
Daily Seed does not implement app-level iCloud journal sync. iOS device backups may include app data according to your device and Apple Account settings. Manage those backups and any exported copies separately.
Purchases and network use
Apple processes purchases and subscriptions through your Apple Account. Daily Seed uses StoreKit to request product information, check purchase entitlements, and restore purchases. We do not collect your payment-card details or billing address through the app.
Apple commerce and speech services can use the network. Opening support, legal, subscription-management, or other external links can also involve the relevant external service. This is different from uploading your journal to us.
Support messages
If you email support@dailylifeapps.com, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond to your request. Please send only the details needed to troubleshoot, not private journal text, photos, voice recordings, or exported journals. Email is separate from the app's local journal storage.
Retention and deletion
Your records remain locally until you delete them. You can delete individual pages and notes; deleting a page removes its associated local attachments. Uninstalling the app removes its local container. There is no developer-held journal account or server copy to request deletion of.
Deleting a page or the app does not remove exports, files shared with other services, or existing device backups. Manage those copies separately. Uninstalling does not cancel Apple subscriptions.
Children's privacy and wellbeing
Daily Seed does not create online profiles or intentionally collect children's journal information. It is a personal reflection tool, not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency support.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when features or privacy practices change. The effective date above identifies this version. Send privacy questions to support@dailylifeapps.com.
